Clean sweep for Darren Morgan in the Welsh Masters 2012-13

Darren Morgan made it a clean sweep for the season when he beat Ian Sargeant in the final of the Welsh Masters Championship by three frames to one.

Morgan comfortably overcame Derrick Hadigate, David Parker and John Terry to reach the final.

It was a different story for Sargeant. Veterans Ron Allen and Bob Watkins gave him plenty to think about in their matches while Byron Phillips who had earlier gained good wins over Simon Morgan, Wayne Morgan and Jon Perring gave him a real scare in the semi-final.

Despite several ex-pros and top amateur players entering the Masters (over 40s) events these days Morgan has now won the last nine.

Taking into account the differing condition of the tables and balls at the various venues together with the quality of the players who enter it is a great achievement by Darren.

Both Morgan and Sargeant will represent Wales at the European Championships in Poland at the end of the month.
