Welsh Under 21s Championship - Results

The final Under 21s event of the year, the Championship, was contested by 17 players.

A surprise result in the last 16 saw Ben Fortey overcome number one ranked Jackson Page. Other results from the last 16 went very much according to expectations with the higher ranked players coming through. The quarter finals were all won to nil scores - the highlights being Tyler Rees breaks of 74 and 56 with Dyan Emery making 56 and 58 in his win. Rhys Thomas and Tyler Ress ranked 2 and 3 respectively were drawn in one semi final with Dylan Emery and Ben Fortey in the other. Both semi finals ended in 3 nil wins for Tyler and Ben with Tyler making a 42 break in the second frame of his match. Tyler had not conceded a frame on his way to the final while Ben had only conceded one frame.

The final started out very slowly with both players playing good safety until Tyler broke the deadlock with a break of 80. The second frame was also a close affair until an unfortunate in off by Ben on the yellow gave Tyler the chance to clear the colours to take the frame.  The final frame started well for Tyler who was almost over the line when a horrendous kick on a break of 37 left Ben in.  Ben made 33 and missed a pink to the middle leaving Tyler on to clear up. Tyler went in off the green leaving Ben 27 behind and after a couple of further safety shots Tyler was again left on and this time made no mistake in clearing up to take the title.
