Mens Event 3 'European'

The third Mens event of the season took place over the weekends of the 9th and 16th of December, across 3 venues. We would like to thank Ewloe Social (N), Redz (E), Snooker World (W) and Scala (Finals) for their support.

Up North it was the old hands of Elfed Evans and Steve Thomas that came through, both needing to go the distance in their final qualifiers against Alex Taubman and Ross L Jones respectively.

The East region qualifiers were in fine form all day, with Jackson Page (dropping 0 frames en route), David Donovan (dropping 1) and Michael Hodge (only 2 frames dropped) making the last 8. In the West, Tyler Rees, Paul Doughton and Ben Jones made it through, with Ben facing two titanic 5 frame tussles with Gavin Lewis and Conor Caniff.

At the quarter final stage Elfed Evans overcame stubborn resistance from Mike Hodge, clinching the 4th frame and match with a nice 76 break after Hodge had earlier made efforts of 48 and 56. Jackson Page disposed of Steven Thomas in quick time, running out a 3-0 winner. Tyler Rees put out Paul Doughton 3-1 with the aid of 67 break. David Donovan took all 5 frames to beat Ben Jones 3-2 in a hard fought encounter which included breaks of 56 from Donovan and 49 from Jones.

At the semis, in the battle of the Welsh champions it was the present incarnation inJackson Page who dominated with his quick fire potting, making breaks of 46 and 91 in a 3-0 win, leaving Elfed to admire the display in good grace. In the other semi final Tyler Rees all round matchplay proved too much for David Donovan as he reached the final with a 3-0 scoreline making a break of 56 along the way.

The final between two of Wales outstanding young players promised to be a close fought affair. However, Jackson's earlier form seemed to desert him as Tyler cruised to a 3-0 victory with breaks of 45, 68 and 58.
