Welsh Men's Event 4 (Jack Carney Memorial) - Qualifiers

David John was in great form in the qualifiers for Men’s Event Four (Jack Carney Memorial) at Trecenydd Snooker Centre. He toppled Wales’s top ranked player John Bevan and junior international Callum Lloyd to qualify for the finals. He made breaks of 68, 64 and 94 on the way.

Duane Jones is making a bold bid to regain top spot in the rankings. He qualified without dropping a single frame and compiled the highest break of the day with a century.

Sam Thomas of Barry is improving with every tournament and took the third Eastern area qualifying spot.

The Western area qualifiers at Snooker World, Ammanford were Jamie Clarke (breaks of 53,57,65,85 and 62), Ben Jones and Gavin Lewis (57, 97 and 70).

There were notable performances from Mark Stoneman (92break), Matthew Williams and Craig Price who has returned to competitive snooker after a long absence.

Rhydian Richards was surprisingly beaten by Jason Humphries leaving the third spot for the Wales team for the European Championship (Serbia in March) wide open and will be decided at the completion of this event at Ammanford on Sunday.

The North Wales qualifiers were Event Three winner Alex Taubman and the consistent Gareth Allen.
