Jackson Page Welsh Under 16's Champion 2014

Jackson page showed he is rapidly emerging as the new star of Welsh Junior Snooker as he won this Under 16's Championship to add to the Under 14s Championship he also won recently.

Jackson however did not have it all his own way. He had to dig deep to get past fellow junior international Callum Matthews in their quarter final before another close victory over no.2 seed Jordan Bowd put him into the final.

In the top half of the draw no. 1 seed Tyler Rees seemed to be cruising through when he led Suraj Singh 2-0 in their semi final. Suraj then showing plenty of fighting spirit and bottle levelled at 2-2 before winning the decider more comfortably to reach the final, denying Tyler the chance of a clean sweep in Under 16s events this season.

The final was an excellent match with both players “going for their shots” again it went to 2-2 and when Suraj went 50 odd points in front it looked certain he would win his first event of the season. Jackson kept battling away and somehow clawed his way back, clearing the last few colours to force a re spotted black. An excellent safety shot from him left Suraj with a tricky cross double which jawed in the corner pocket and stayed right over the hole, Jackson eagerly potted it to become Welsh Under 16's Champion.
