The Jack Carney Memorial (Men's Event 4)
The finals of the 2014 Jack Carney Memorial (Men’s Event 4) take place at the TG Matchroom, Llanelli on Sunday 19th January commencing at 10.30am.
The East Area qualifiers are Welsh Champion David John (Bridgend), Rhydian Richards (Merthyr) and Andy Rogers (Newport).
From West Wales the qualifiers are Lee Walker (Newbridge), Jamie Clarke (Llanelli) and Ben Jones (Swansea)
North Wales qualifiers Gareth Allen and Alex Taubman make up the eight quarter-finalists.
There were exceptional performances from some very young players in this event. Twelve years old Connor Caniff from Tredegar beat Dave Stewart and experienced Ron Allen before losing to Ben Jones.
Jackson Page (Ebbw Vale), also twelve, had a good win over Bryn Devonald before losing in the deciding frame against Lee Niblett.
Jack Martin (Swansea) potted a great long pink to beat Samir Ali in the deciding frame of their close match before coming up against Lee Walker playing near the top of his game.
