The semi-finals of the Coors Brewers Welsh Amateur Snooker Championship took place at Terry Griffiths’s Matchroom Snooker Club, Llanelli on Sunday.

In the first semi-final Wales number one, Daniel Wells (Neath) comfortably beat former Welsh champion Wayne Jones (Abertysswg) by six frames to two.

Despite struggling throughout the match to find his form Jones won a scrappy first frame before Wells reeled off the next four including breaks of 51 and 72.

Jones won a tight sixth frame but Wells responded with 42 and 71 to win the next two frames and the match.

Wells now meets former European Champion David John (Bridgend) in the final on Sunday 22nd May at the Matchroom.

Welsh Snooker Semi-FinalDavid John comfortably beat Llanelli’s Jamie Clarke by six frames to one in a match where neither player found their best form. Clarke was very unlucky on a couple of occasions but still made the highest break of the match with a superb 81 clearance.

The best of fifteen frames final will take place over two sessions commencing 1pm and 6pm.

The appearance of Wells, aged twenty two and Clarke sixteen in the semi-finals of Wales’s premier amateur snooker event highlights the success of the Welsh Sports Council’s Elite Cymru sponsorship scheme.
