Welsh Snooker Championship - Quarter Finals

The quarter finals of 2011 Welsh Championships took place at Pockets Snooker Club, Newport on Sunday.

Twice European champion David John (Bridgend) came back strongly from three one down to beat ex pro Lee Walker (Newbridge) by five frames to four. He now meets Welsh junior star Jamie Clarke who also came from two frames behind to overcome former Welsh Champion Elfed Evans (Pwllheli) five frames to three.

Another former Welsh Champion Wayne Jones (Abertysswg) produced some of his old form when comfortably beating Gareth Edwards (North Wales) by five frames to nil.

Welsh number one Daniel Wells (Neath) lost the opening frame but then went into overdrive compiling breaks of 60, 65, 116 and 69 to defeat Gavin Lewis (Neath) by five frames to one.

The semi-finals will take place at Terry Griffiths’s Matchroom Club, Llanelli on Sunday 15th May. Wayne Jones will play Daniel Wells at 1pm and David John will play Jamie Clarke at 6pm. Both matches are the best of eleven frames.

The best of fifteen frames final will again be at the Matchroom on Sunday 22nd May. The first seven frames session will start at 1pm with the second session commencing at 7pm.
