European Under 21s Championship

Poland’ssixteen years old Kalper Filipiak was the shock winner of the European Under 21s Championship when he beat Scotland’s Michael Leslie by six frames to three in the final earning himself a place on the Main Tour with the top professionals next season.

Filipiak has a connection with Wales, having spent time at the Llanelli Matchroom being coached.

Elite Cymru recipient Duane Jones (Mountain Ash) led 2-0, then trailed 2-4 before losing 5-3 to Scotland’s Leslie in the semi-final.

Wales’s other players at the event Daniel Norris (Aberdare) and Edward Topham and Kishan Hirani both of Cardiff all played well to reach the knockout stages.
