Barry's Sam Thomas won this first Under 21's event of the season beating Edward Topham of Cardiff in the final.

Sam was given a fright at the quarter final stage by Welsh Under 19's team mate Rhydian ap Owen who had travelled down from Aberystwyth for the event. A very close match saw Sam scrape through 3-2 before a comfortable win over Jerry Connors put him into the final.

Edward Topham had a tough passage through to the final beating junior internationals Callum Lloyd and Ryan Rowlands 3-2 followed by another close 3-2 win over pre tournament favourite and no.1 seed Duane Jones.

The final failed to produce many fireworks. Ed seemed a little subdued after a long day, allowing Sam too many chances as the Barry player ran out a 3-1 winner.
