Elfed Evans wins Welsh Masters Event One

Therewas a strong field for the first Masters (over 40s) tournament of the seasonwhere World Pairs Champion Elfed Evans showed he means to carry on where heleft off last season when comfortablywinning Masters Event One at Redz Snooker Club Cwmbran without needing to getinto top gear.

Evans,forty-five, from Pwllheli was last season's top Masters' player with threevictories and five finals in six events.

Hebeat Alun Squire, Ian Sargeant Andrew Isitt and Paul Davies dropping only twoframes all day.

Ex-proPaul Davies had wins over European Pairs Champion Wayne Morgan, John Terry andDarren Thompson en route to the final.

Isittand Thompson also impressed on the day.

Isittbeat Jon Perring, Dave Parker and Gavin Lewis and Thompson had good wins overNeil Tomkins, Darren Morgan and Derrick Hadigate.
