Welsh Amateur Seniors Championship, 2014-15

Defending champion Jamie Clarke will play Daniel Wells in the semi-final of the 2015 Welsh Amateur Championship at Merthyr Labour Club on April 25th at 6pm over the best of eleven frames.

In his quarter-final match against in-form Callum Lloyd it was Lloyd who raced off the blocks with a break of seventy eight. Clarke hit back with a vengeance reeling off four frames in a row including a fabulous clearance of 111 in the fifth frame. Lloyd showed great character in pulling back the next two frames to cut his arrears to a frame before Clarke closed out the match with the aid of a diabolical fluke on the final blue.

After a black ball win in the first frame Wells beat Edward Topham without dropping a frame.

Highlighting the strength of the Masters (over 40s) players in Wales the second semi-final is between former champions Elfed Evans and Darren Morgan who play on May 9th at 6 pm. This is again the best of eleven frames at the Labour Club.

Morgan beat Wales number one Gareth Allen by five frames to three in a long, tough match despite making breaks of 90 in frame one and 93 in the fifth.

Evans needed all his experience to beat sixteen years old Tyler Rees by five frames to two. On 96 in the third frame he missed an easy brown for his century.

The best of fifteen frames final of the 2015 Welsh Amateur Championship will take place over two sessions at Merthyr Labour Club on Sunday May 10th. The first session of seven frames will start at 2.30 pm and the second session at 7pm.
