Welsh Masters Event Three - Results

Darren Thompson was the surprise winner of Masters Event Three held at Matchroom Llanelli.

After a tense scrappy first four frames a fine break of sixty two in the last frame of the final against Darren Morgan should have sealed it but Morgan clawed his way back into the frame before potting the brown and going in-off handing the match to Thompson.

Thomson should have gone out at the semi-final stage but Ian Sargeant once again managed to claw defeat from the jaws of victory by missing a straight green from the spot for the match. Earlier Thompson had cruised past John Griffiths Gavin Lewis and a resurgent Byron Phillips.

Morgan on the other hand had a tougher passage playing former World Masters Champion Phil Williams John Terry and Elfed Evans.

With twenty nine entries again for this event the Welsh Masters series continues to be a success. More and more top players are turning forty years of age making it harder and harder to win a match let alone the tournament.

The next event will be the European qualifier to be held at Brackla Snooker Club on January 3rd 2016.
