EBSA 2016 - Masters, Teams and 6 Reds

The EBSA event in Vilnius has concluded, with some excellent performances from the Welsh players.

Darren Morgan won both the European Open and retained the Masters title, the latter in particularly dominant style. Darren topped the breaks table too, with a fine attempt at a maximum, missing out after the green jawed and failed to drop. In the team events, Wales was well represented in the knock out stages. Alex Taubman and Andrew Pagett may well feel they could have done without the break between their group matches and the knockout stage as their form in the groups was absolutely outstanding. However they drew eventual winners Brian Cini and Alex Borg of Malta and lost out in a very close encounter. Similarly in the Masters team event, Darren Morgan and Ian Sargeant were eliminated by Jamie Bodle and Aidan Owens of England, who also went on to clinch the title.

Highest break of the Six Reds competition was taken by Andrew Pagett in the opening match of his journey to the quarter finals. With merely 75 points available, a free-ball total clearance of 81 was an excellent contribution.

Stalwarts Jon Perring and Wayne Morgan can hold their heads high with their, as ever, solid performances. Newer caps Jack Bradford, Rhys Thomas, Jordan Steins and Keith Thomas will all have gained valuable experience for their next international encounters.
