Celtic Challenge 2016

The Celtic Challenge took place at the Llanelli Matchroom on the 25th June. The result sadly, wasn't in our favour this time, with Ireland victorious 85 to 59.

Out of the six sessions, the Irish boys won the opening five befoe Wales managed to win the last one. Some of the Welsh players will feel they did not play to their full potential, but this was testament to the safety play of the boys in green. Several players were making their first appearances for Wales and no doubt felt the pressure, but we are sure they will take the experience they gained away with them and come back stronger for next season.

Whilst this is a competiton, the event is also a social one and everyone enjoyed the day.

Thanks go to Gordon Pantall, John Dobson and Mark Emery for their organisation throughout the day, to Peter Thomas, Paul Taylor, John Pellew and Deryck Brown for refereeing tirelessly and of course to Anthony Davies and Lee Walker for their efforts throughout the season, finding time in their days to work with the boys.

The teams, largely pictured below were: -

U14 - Ryan Bowgen, Jacob Boyle, Liam Davies, Luke James, Rees Morgans and Oscar Vaughan

U16 - Connor Canniff, Alfie Davies, Dylan Emery, Callum Matthews, Jackson Page and Zac Walters
