IBSF World Mens and Masters Championships 2016 - Friday

Today saw the end of the Masters Groups and the start of the Mens Knockout stage.

Steven Thomas lost a deciding frame match, but still topped his group to take 16th seeding. Darren Morgan and Elfed Evans were seeded 2nd and 6th respectively, meaning none of them can meet the others until the very later stages. Steven now faces Tom Zimmerman (#49) at 7am UK time tomorrow. Elfed has drawn 59th seed Nasser Bomejdad and Darren has #63 Andrej Maksimov, both at 10am UK time tomorrow.

In the Mens, all four of our players were in action. Jamie Clarke saw off the challenge of Ang Boon Chan 4-1, to set up a last 32 match with Maltese player Brian Cini on Sunday at 7am UK. Rhydian Richards was taken to a decider by baby-faced Russian Ivan Kokovsky, Lukas Kleckers now awaits on Sunday at 7am. Andrew Pagett  also breaks off on Sunday at 7am UK against Ka Wai Cheung, following his 4-3 defeat of Ahmed Saif. The only downer of the day came early evening, when Alex Taubman bowed out to Babar Masih. At 3-1 down it looked to be over for Alex, but determined play in frame 5 saw him come from behind and clear to pull back to 2-3. Babar however had other ideas and Alex unfortunately went down 2-4
