Evans wins Welsh Masters Event 2

With breaks of 44, 77 and 124 former Welsh champion Elfed Evans (Pwllheli) defeated John Terry (Swansea) in the final of the second Masters (over 40s) event of the season.

Evans had to overcome Welsh Internationals Byron Phillips, Peter Roscoe, Ron Jones and David Hooper to reach the final while Terry beat Keith Thomas, John Mills, Jason Humphries and former professional Paul Davies.

Andrew Isitt played really well beating Welsh International Steve Thomas and World Seniors champion Darren Morgan before losing to in-form Paul Davies, who made breaks of 66 and 84, in the quarter-final.

Sixty-nine years old Welsh snooker legend Ron Jones made the highest break of the day with a fabulous run of 134 but narrowly lost to Evans in their quarter-final.

There was a record entry for the event and the conditions provided at the Ammanford Snooker World venue were superb.
