Masters European - Results

The Masters got together down at Snooker World last Sunday, for their fifth event of the season, the European.

Current Number 1 ranked Elfed Evans saw off Simon Morgan and then Wayne Morgan to reach the semi-finals, whilst Emyr Humphries survived a first round, deciding frame scare against Andrew Isitt before beating Chairman Ron Allen to line up against travelling companion Elfed. This time it was to be Emyr's day though, returning postman Elfed 'to sender' 3-0.

The bottom half of the draw, number 4 ranked Steve Thomas was taken down at the first hurdle by a strong performance from Simon Williams, who was then in turn beaten by Byron Philips to take his place in semi-final 2. Fresh from his success in the Welsh Championship Quarter Finals the day before, Darren Morgan despatched Michael Boucher 3-1 and Gavin Lewis 3-0. His smei-final match with Byron finished 3-1 to Darren, setting up a repeat of the previous event final.

Darren's run of form continued in the final, leaving Emyr few chances to make his mark. The final score of 3-0 to Darren puts him very much in striking distance of the #1 slot in the next event.
