WBSA Coaching Updates

As part of the appointment of Ric Washer as National Coach, we have decided this is an ideal opportunity to update our coaching records and provide more detailed information about coaches.

Currently a number of the coaches listed have been inactive for a number of years and with this in mind we will be introducing a number of changes.

First and foremost, child safety is of the highest order. Consequently, all coaches will need to have an up to date DBS assessment. Where their DBS assessment has lapsed, a new one can be arranged by the Association. In addition to this, safeguarding training will be mandatory and coaches will be required to prove they have passed a recognised course (which can be done online)

Furthermore, coaches will not merely be able to utilise the WBSA Coaches list as free advertising. To be listed as a coach on the website will be conditional on some support being offered back to the Association, either by offering registered members a discount or by assisting at group coaching days organised by the Association.

Coaching will need to incorporate a grading system for players, so that standard can be easily monitored should players move area and coach. The WPBSA coaching system utilises the Red to Black grading scale, which will be re-introduced into the Welsh system.
